Things we say

Postby geonuc » Wed Oct 17, 2018 3:15 pm

Me, muttering to myself this morning: "I don't know what the fuck these people want."

By 'people', I was referring to the two cats, who are milling about as if I hadn't fed them (I had and there was still plenty in the bowls).

People.

I'll walk into the kitchen and the cat will be all over me telling me it's time to feed her. I'll say, "Poor Mimi's, nobody loves you. You must be starving. Nobody fed you." From the back reaches of the house, Mrs. T will yell, "Yes she has. I just fed her. She's lying!"

Our cats, particularly Maki, do that. Deb is taking an art class Tuesday and Thursday evenings, so the cats get fed early. I'll come home, well after their normal feeding time, and I'll get the full court press like no one has fed us. They fooled me the first time.

My last cat and current cat have been anomalies--they are not food-crazy. They will usually ask for food at proper meal times when their bowl is empty, but they won't demand it at all times. They both love(d) their wet food and come/came running at the sound of the can opener. But Buster usually feeds Nala when we get home for the day, and if I'm home and he's not around, she'll usually wait for him. Sometimes Nala will go all morning with an empty food bowl (it's downstairs so we don't always see it) and she'll be perfectly fine. Millie was a tiny thing and didn't need much food, so we just kept her bowl full and she ate when she felt like it.

Neither care(d) for cat treats!

Lol.

I actually posted this in humor because of what I said, and who I said it to, not because the cats were demanding food (they actually weren't asking for food). It's because I called them 'people'.
