Moron of the Decade

I know it's been awhile since we had any activity in this forum, but this article about aliens going to hell made me want to dust off the old moron awards.

One has to ask one's self what sort of person would want to believe a doctrine like that. I can see preaching it but not believing it (Jerry Falwell and his ilk) or believing it and hating it (Philip K. Dick went there at at times). I can even see believing in it and thinking it's just the way of things, from lack of empathy or lack of critical thought. I just can't imagine believing in it, and not thinking in your heart of hearts once in a while, "You know, this really isn't right." Don't these people have any doubt?

... But of course I already know the answer, from when I read Inferno. They do have doubt. They're just trained from an early age to stomp on it at every turn, the way Virgil persuades Dante to ignore his sympathy for the damned.

Still, I have a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Two possible explanations:

a) He's an idiot

b) He makes his living catering to idiots.

I actually find it fascinating because it so goes against the face of much of Christianity. It flourished because of the emphasis on proselytizing, like how the Mormons do today.

So if Ham was a serious evengelical Christian he should be supporting more money in the space program so we can go find the aliens and convert them to Christianity, not just condemning them to hell. That's what they did in Polynesia!
Yes, I have a life. It's quite different from yours.

But the Polynesians are descendants of Adam...now that science has shown them to be human and rejected the notion of keeping them as slaves, while the bible condoned slavery and when that wasn't acceptable anymore they stole from them in exchange for the "gift" of eternal life...it's mighty christian of them.
