Placenta Teddy Bears

A fine description of what happened to the last versions of our beloved FWIS forums... and how we intend to plot revenge... OK... maybe not the revenge part...

Isn't that just disgusting? I stopped reading too, as soon as I realized it was real. Don't EVER want to meet that guy.

"It was really about provoking a debate about placentas and how we treat them."

It's an organ that is not needed once the baby is delivered. It's not alive. How *should* we treat it?

If people want to eat it--gross, but fine with me. Making it into a teddy bear is even grosser because other people have to be exposed to it. But, to each his own--as long as it isn't forced on me!

Thanks for sharing.

To note: out of over 20 cultural traditions described, only 3 mention doing anything other than ultimately burying it.

I just thought it was interesting - probably ties into animism on some level
