In my opinion, the only reason any employees should dress professionally is if they are customer facing. Otherwise, enforcing a dress code is a pointless act of oppression.

I feel for you GJ, I had to attend work in professional garb for a while. Thankfully it has been 8 years since I've had to wear a tie. Now I am occasionally known to wear tracksuit pants to work although going even more casual than jeans is frowned upon In my opinion, the only reason any employees should dress professionally is if they are customer facing.
